I want to correct my first post a bit... Recently I installed new 1.3 patch/mod version, called Public Beta 5.1, and saw something interesting when I clicked on multiplayer... I saw 1.2 session! Later I was told that option was there since the beginning, just turned off by default. That feature changed my complete view on a 1.2 vs 1.3 story. I was wrong before, thinking that 1.3 to 1.2 is like BzE to Bz1...

Early versions of BzE were on the same session as Bz1, meaning all players were in the same lobby, seeing each other, being able to chat and see each other's games. If one wanted to join BzE game while in Bz, he just had to exit and start BzE (we have the same procedure with The Red Odyssey expansion). Like that, community wasn't split and BzE mod was adding something to the game, like mod is supposed to. Further more, BzE's creator promised to fix few bugs and those were the days when I was one of the biggest BzE supporter. While other forums were barely mentioning BzE in a few posts, this forum (with me as only admin) had whole BzE section, with polls and everything. I was involved in strat creation, beta testing and so on and so on...

Unfortunately, BzE creator changed his goal... He decided, on his own, that his mod is better than the original, so he created different session for it and started his campaign to destroy original Bz. He had help from the server owner, so they almost made it. Hacking Bz games in the name of BzE, forced BzE promotion... Now when Bz got a new independent server (battlezone1.net) and saved original Battlezone, they (Team Dummy) started recruiting players by lying to them that BzE is the real Bz. No one can tell poor noobs differently cause all Bz supporters are banned from that server (BzE session).

Anyway, what I wanted to say is that 1.3 is not trying to destroy 1.2, as I thought before. So from now on, I want completely ignore 1.3 patch/mod. Especially with knowing that one (or is it two?) original 1.2 programmer is working on 1.3. However, the last official patch for BZ2 is still 1.2. Who wants to try BZ2 should start with that.

Yes, 1.3 is a patch made by two of the developers of BZ1/2. (Ken Miller/Nathan Mates)

One of the primary guidelines of it is that it doesn't change "stock". Updates that cause differences between stock and current tend to get fixed.

Yes, the community in BZ2 is also split, just like in BZ. You have the idiots who love their 'hacking' and 'glitching' in 1.2, and then you have the others who play to have fun so that they aren't ruined by said idiots. That's why some play on 1.3, some still play on 1.2, etc... I have had good games on both patches because I have real good friends that know what they're doing, and we have very fun games when we do play with eachother.

Your obviously registered on BZU :)

The so called 'idiots' dont hack in 1.2.
We exploit glitches, everyone can do that, there is no disadvantage for this and i think exploiting these glitches make the game fun :).
But hacking no way, people have tried to hack in the past, and got banned and shamed by most of the community because of it, shows noone likes, or supports hacking.
Im glad that you have fun on both patches, but i have never seen you on either :) maybe we could catch a game sometime.
