Battlezone 1

I have a new system and when I try to run my favorite old game on it, BZ, the menu system is all black. I can see the cursor and I remember that the exit button is on the top left and the exit button works. If I press it, the game shuts down fine, and I can see the green exit picture of a tank.... as if all is well just for a split second while it shuts down. I have no idea what to make of this. Back in the day I could easily problem solve a lot of graphics issues with this game, but I don't know what to do this time.

BZ should run on that system... Did you install BZ from a CD or you used installer from this site?

Didn't even know there was a seperate installer from the CD. But to answer your question, neither. I installed it on a slave drive on my slightly older system, and I thought it would work if I just ran it off the slave, already installed. All my other games do. And I've never had a problem with it before this sytem. I was using an AMD 939 2.8Ghz San Diego, with a nVidia 6800GT on my last system and it worked fine. So I thought it would work again on this one.

My BZ works fine with XP and HD4850, while Westpac has XP and (single) HD4870, also no issues.

Try installing this. Nothing else is needed, not even a CD.

The same problem is still happening.

Strange... nobody had that issue before....

Can you play single player over Config Utility?
Can you run it in Window Mode? How about Software Mode?

Try with different graphic card drivers, from the newest to the oldest.

The game works but only if the hardware is turned off. If the hardware is turned off, NOTHING but mouse movement works, not even the esc key. I have to turn the game off manually.

If I turn the hardware on, the game play screen is black, but I can get into the menu systems just fine.
