I made this BZ3 category and I would be among the first who would try BZ3... I also understand BZ1 more than most people, so don't get offended when I say this:

Big majority of you who post about BZ3, don't play BZ1 at all. You talk about BZ1's bugs and flaws while you never truely understood the game. BZ3 will very likely never happen, so why don't you invest that extra time you have in actually playing BZ1?

BZ1 wasn't just one of the best games in '98, even today, in '09, it shares 3rd place on the top PC games of all time list.

Where's BZ2? Where would BZ3 be?

BZ3 would even be more far out from BZ1 than BZ2. Maybe It'll be the new Halo or something..

If we're actually going to do this, we need to

1. Find more people
2. Find a game engine, or use BZ's somehow

I think it'd be easier to find new programmers to work on this. For starters, it's a good way to learn programming knowledge and secondary, they get the full game for free!

The game engine might be the hardest part. Perhaps we could improve on BZ1's engine a bit?

There lies the problem, no source code from Activision. So in other words, we'd be limited to what we could change. If we could get the source code, we could change ANYTHING at will. There are a lot of engines on source forge, but I am kind of lacking in that field.

Not to sound negative or cynical, but even if BZ3 became a reality (unfortunately, I doubt it will), would it have everything that I like about BZ1?

I like the storyline of BZ1, the missions in BZ1, the AI in BZ1, the command interface of BZ1, the menus of BZ1... the list goes on. It would basically have to be an attempt at making 1.5 patch/mod under a different name. :?

I'm picky. I don't play BZ2 because the interface is different and the control of my own aiming reticle is feels awkward, too sensitive, and out of control.

Well you know something guys I am trying to finish a Battlezone style game called"Solar Dominion" I have three game engines, 3D RAD, Dark Basic and 3D Gamestudio A6.40 they are not that expensive and they can be got fro very cheap or free. what is needed is programmers I have got quite a fair bit on my own with Dark Basic but I want to have my game have actual cyberplanets so may need to go on 3D Gamestudio , now if I could get some programmers together then who knows although licenses will be difficult.

If you are interested get in touch and I will put an advert out on the 3D Gamestudio forum
