Nice job! Keep them coming... :)

Sync off sometimes happens if you have a lot of codec packs installed, they start interfering. I also edit with WMM, YouTube is the one to blame for quality drops. But don't worry, it still looks good.

Thanks! Going to do a big PC clear out today, so hopefully I can get the problem sorted.

Added a couple more, but it's getting maddening to do them - aside from the sync issue (mostly sorted with fiddling with sound drivers and settings), larger maps have a tendency to drop my framerate down to single figures. Managed to sort that by swapping out my 3 year old 7300GT for a 6 year old Ti4200, but then fraps was taking up so much that defensive units weren't shooting properly! Sorted it a bit by putting the newer gcard back but keeping old drivers.

Going to grab a cheapo Radeon 4670 and add a couple more gigs of memory. Hopefully that'll sort it!

Speaking of joke missions, What the hell is up with the final BD RO mission?!?!
I did it with no issues, expecting a secondary element of the mission and it just finished. and no end cinematic either, I'm guessing that this was the end credits not available on the download, can anyone out there upload the end credits so I can see what I missed?

The outro is on youtube, though you're not missing that much TBH. Think I am missing something with the last mission, By the time I have the fourth call, my 'WTF you sent me crappy bombers and 4 scouts' crew is pretty much deaded =( Even tried taking out the transport, but whilst the towers can be destroyed, the transport has had a magic spell of invulnerability cast on it.

I found it reasonably straight forward.
I commanded the armory to redeploy further to the north west from the start geyser, to get it closer to the action. the bombers grouped under F2 to defend it, the other units were tasked to follow me under F1, just use follow me, Spock demonstrates how useful it can be elsewhere. Don't forget to get a second SP Stab.
If you lead the attacks then it's pretty fun, position your army between the running chinese and the transport then let the enemy come to you and you can destroy them wave at a time. later on the waves come from 3 ways, tell your army to attack the southern heavy tank, your bombers to attack the tug and APCs, and you have to max it to catch the last fighters.

Don't use BD bombers in close fighting, they use Comets and kill everything.
Get the armory to drop a load of supplies in one spot, fly your army through it and it saves time.

Bit of a disappointing end though.

Thanks Baldrick - I was one APC off finishing, but Id run out of ammo and wingmen. Adding another tag to the bombers seems to make them more effective and less suicidal! Would've helped if 2 of them hadn't decided that they were going to go all out on the transport *sigh*

Edit: Finished it, thank god

Find it seriously underwhelming as well? nowhere near as fulfilling as the end of the original game.
Just completed the chinese missions as well, that wasn't hard, just tedious in the extreme, with cloak on you can simply run around the GTs, hide behind the Spowers and the GTs either shoot their own power supplies, or don't fire. The snipers were the worst bit especially the lines of five around teh comm towers, until I realised moving the armoury on to the top level made it possible to deploy some Day Wreckers.... in fact 7 of them finished the level nice and easy...

As for clearing that base in the second to last level. Took ages for me as well, I cleared the Howies by walking a Sasquatch up the cliffs, using Scavengers to distract them.

Hey Thinking2Hard, your aiming reticle disappears when you get shot. If you want to fix that, all you have to do is turn Z buffer off in render.cfg for BZ/TRO. :)

If you're out of ammo and wingmen, use your sniper rifle. :P

To actually get credit for destroying a sniped unit, you have to get in it and eject. I could probably do it better now, but when all else failed in my attempt, I sniped units and ejected.

UPDATE!

Added NSDF #16 Tapping the Core!
**The complete NSDF campaign is now on YouTube!**
Added BDog #3 Spilt Milk!
Added BDog #4 Wolf in Sheep's Clothing!
Added BDog #6 Blitzkrieg!
Replaced BDog #9 with a nearly flawless attempt (Grand Theft Portal, hull in green at end :D)

I think CCA # 7 and 8 are next on my mental BZ Video to-do list. :)

Yeah, I found that out after I'd videoed 3-6 - on 7 that issue and the sync problems have gone, too much hassle to redo those ones spesh with the fraps / memory problem =/

Haha, I did try but you haven't seen me use a sniper rifle =) Ten years ago I was really pants at sniper..now a guy with parkinsons on ganja could shoot better!

Great vids.

I like the way that you did #3 - didn't think about the fact that it doesn't really matter how long you take to get to the recycler as the APC bit won't trigger until you are there . Always a bit nail biting at the end though.

I challenge you to do BD#14 in less than an hour! For the life of me, I can only find a shortcut for when killing the APC, the base attack just turns into a snorathon, every time.

Edit: Added Chinese Mission 3 & 4!

Black Dog #14 "Lifeline" is quite the mission. I can't rush at all in that mission, I have no trouble rushing out and killing the APC, it's attacking such a base without any howies or mortars that is the challenge. It's not so hard if you take your time, but taking my time isn't something I prefer to do when making videos, because of several issues.

Longer video means splitting it up into more parts, which means long editing times. Very little actual editing is done for BZ videos (only splitting the video into smaller clips and exporting) and for TRO videos, I don't have a TRO CD or a CD image with music, so I have to check the mission's TRN file to find what track it begins on, and then add the music in the audio/overlay layer in Windows Movie Maker. Also, I only have about 25 GB free on my computer at any given time, so if I record too long, I could get cut off which will ruin the whole run. That hasn't happened to me yet, but I came close, only 2 GB free right after recording Tapping the Core. I currently keep all original BIG AVI files on my external 500 GB HD, so far they total 160 GB, I still have a lot of free space left, but it's going fast, I might have to delete my .avi backups and only keep the .wmv files, which are the files I select for YouTube upload. Fraps makes big files, but it's the only recorder that does a decent job for me, I can't complain because it records at very high quality, allowing me a couple of quality drops, first quality drop in WMM to shrink the size and split into clips, and 2nd drop by uploading to YouTube, and the video still looks somewhat good. Many others I tried had random screen flicker where some frames are blank black frames, and they didn't even record the sound!

I might be missing some of the music tracks for TRO, as it seems strange that there is no track 1, I have track 2 to 11, I found them on the Internet and posted them here.

If I am missing 1 or more tracks of TRO music and you know of a more complete download or you own a TRO CD, you can rip the music yourself and upload somewhere, or (even better) if you are able to obtain the full version of Alcohol 120% and rip an image of your TRO CD in the format of a big MDF file (the image) and a small MDS file (the media descriptor) with those 2 files I can emulate the CD and make a working physical clone of your CD.

I'm getting desperate to not only save edit time for TRO videos, but to actually enjoy the music while I play. I cannot find a TRO CD for sale online or a full image file with the music, so those of you that HAVE a physical TRO CD are my last hope. I need to eventually aquire a TRO CD/TRO image file with music one way or another, so if you can help, we can discuss it via PM.

I already have a working BZ image with music and an actual CD made from that image, all I need is the same thing for TRO. My Windows 98 macine is too ancient to run Daemon Tools, so I need to create a CD for it so I can play some TRO on my ancient machine.

Don't worry about redoing the videos that have off-sync audio. I am considering editing my Chinese #1 footage and making the music actually change, rather than the same track the whole video (I made mistake of having same track the whole time on many of my BZ and TRO videos), but exporting in WMM takes a long time for any video I make. It seems to take longer than actually uploading a video.

The CD I have is a rip from the original BZ Gold second disk (still got the original gold box somewhere) and checking there seems to be 11 tracks (2-12) so you do seem to be missing a track (just checked..it is no 12). I'm sure the magic BZ fairies will help you with you CD image woes =)

Can't redo the missions until I have the new card anyway, but I want to show them done differently anyway (and without the excessive rustiness and sync problems).

Anyway, my comment about Mission 14 was tongue-in-cheek, if someone can do it in less than an hour then I'd be well impressed - just the bits where you're really pinned down (until you've dealt with the APC-walker stuff) takes half of that time.

Yeah, I'd like to eventually make a video of BDog #14, but I'm not in a hurry to do it, I need an exact attack strategy that will work every time before I actually try to record it. I can record directly to my external hard drive which will help prevent running out of space.

I get myself an army of Grizzlies and a light tank equipped with MAG Cannon, Rocket, and MAS Grenade, and I have a spare empty Grizzly sitting in my base equipped with 2nd SP and Thumper. I take down those high howitzers with splash damage from rocket bombs. I take out Gun Towers from 300m away with orange MAG shots. (it's the only time I found MAG useful in single player, lol). If I am attacked by tanks or bombers, I can brainwash them with the MAS Grenade, then hop out and ask them to pick me up! If my light tank becomes damaged or low on ammo, I park it between supply and hangar in my base and switch to my spare Grizzly. Then when that tank is low again, I switch back to light tank, etc. Once I manage to get rid of the boltmines and howitzers, then my attack attempt begins. I eventually am able to build 6 GunTowers just outside the enemy base. But if I do not move quickly to strike with my army, the Chinese walkers will quickly destroy them all! It's a tricky mission, hehe. I don't see it taking less than 1 hour, I think I might have taken 2 hours.

But it's not nearly as tricky as Chinese mission #7! AH HA HA! Just wait until you try it. I've only beaten it once, with TONS of saving and reloading. I hope you can snipe better by the time you reach it, you'll need it.

BDog #3 still gives me trouble, it took about 10 attempts to actually make the video, I had to save ammo and skip the first attack wave with some snipes, and I had to look for dots in my sniper scope a few times to kill some cloaked Chinese units to reduce how much ammo my army and I used, how much damage we took, etc. Looking back at the video now, I realize I never repaired my tank. I didn't have the 1 scrap I needed for a repair, and I was in a hurry to get to the APC and I was still almost at full health anyway, so I thought "here goes nothing" and I left base after arranging my turrets and went straight to protect the APC. When the invisible fighter came, I shot and missed a lot. Then I didn't even notice the invisible light tank until a few moments after bumping into it! It was a hilarious moment, thinking "Hmm, I can't go forward... AH! Chinese Light Tank!" and then I start shooting because I know it will shred the APC if I don't kill it myself. When I finally got that mission on video, I breathed a sigh of relief. :)

Reached it several days ago, but the mission makes me want to give up hope - the way they've blocked you from sniping fighters is particularly evil and wrong. After a ton of attempts I got somewhere near the bridge (I could see it) and then I got a headshot *sigh*. I only got near the bridge because you can do that thing where you skim across the floor (i.e. run-jump after you've come off a slope) and I was outrunning all the evil little red men after me.

That sounds slightly crazy.

More videos added.
