Battlezone 1

Yeah, this mission is evil. I have yet to clear it in 1 run. I get shot by snipers I can't even see half the time. Also, there are 2 possible bridges to go to, and the 2 routes are very different. If I do manage to ever get a video of this mission, that's only 1/2 the battle, because I'll want to make a video of BOTH the North Bridge route AND the East Bridge route, and it's chosen randomly each time you play, so when I start the mission, I have no idea which way to go until I reach the Comm Tower. I read the guide for this mission in the TRO section, and it describes it as "the mission from hell", which pretty much fits. This mission is hard EVERY time, I can never seem to memorize which way to go, how to avoid being shot, etc. Also, once a flanker spots me, I can't escape it, so I try to keep to the high ground where there aren't any flankers, but then there's turrets, soldiers, pilots, and snipers... AND MINES!!! AH HA HA!

BD Mission 10 & 15 and 'without shooting' NSDF Missions 7-10 added. Going to be a while before the next one - trying to do BD Mission 14 in a reasonable amount of time (easy, just too long).

I still haven't beaten the 2nd Chinese mission, but I skipped it for now and did the 3rd one and added it.

I found a glitch/bug/exploit that allows me to SNIPE A TURRET and DRIVE IT in Chinese Mission 7 (East Route)!

This allows:
- infinite repairs and reloads for pilot.
- transportation to the East Bridge and to the Drop Zone!
- sniper protection (once turret is deployed)
- outrunning Flankers! (Escape your death by the Flanker who can't be sniped!)

So I go to the East Bridge and grab the repair pack to repair the turret, then I wreak havoc on the enemy until the convoy arrives, then I detonate the explosives and destroy the right APC, then I go to the very center of the drop zone while in my stolen turret, then I immediately eject and the enemy loses track of me! Some Chinese pilots drop from the sky to help out, and I carefully eliminate any remaining enemy snipers/soldiers/pilots from the outer circle of the Drop Zone. The enemy will soon see me again once I start killing them.

Yes, I have way too much free time.

Even with the stolen turret, the mission can still end in disaster if you're not careful. It's still quite a beast.

Wonder if it is a glitch or a shortcut - several of the missions have openings where you can make it a lot easier on yourself and the fact that they've closed up sniping for the fighters but not for that turret makes me wonder!

Where is the turret located? Would like to see the last mission and ending!

Oh and you were surprisingly inefficient in Chinese Mission 3 (Rescue Me)!

Yeah, I'm not sure how they intended you to beat Chinese #3, but I did it with my sniper rifle and slowly wearing down the enemies around the General's APC, which I was lucky to find first when recording instead of one of the "Troop Transport" decoy APCs

Chinese Mission 7 has been beasted and YouTube'd! Some editing was done to shorten the video, since there was a long period of waiting for the convoy to arrive at the East Bridge, and I wasn't being attacked or sniping the enemy, just sitting in my stolen turret.

The turrets don't exist until you get close to where they are, then they APPEAR OUT OF NOWHERE and deploy, and that's your chance! You have about 8 seconds to snipe the turret before it fully deploys!

Nicely done indeed! Thanks to your turret tip I finally beat that level, though I nicked the turret that appears behind you when you first start the level...and getting annoyed at the fighters, I set up shop and killed all of them. I didn't think of putting the view in third person..kinda sensible and makes things easier.

With regards to #3 - If you see the video, I went back to the base after pooping repairs on the howies and took wingmen to distract the ships following me - was quite surprised with yours as the mission didn't end when you bought the general back to the base as it did with mine. I suspect it's because I destroyed the APCs escorts rather than sniping them =/

Yeah, was strange that the mission didn't end right when I arrived at the base. But it ended when I started to leave base after the Mongos had some fun with their dual blast cannons, so like all my other videos, it's a real completion, not me cutting it off because it wouldn't end.

APCs are beast climbers, despite having no power in their jump jets and being relatively slow.

Also, I probably won't make a video of the CRA #7 North Bridge, because you can steal the same turret and go to the North Bridge, and it's basically the same, except I recall having to avoid flankers a lot while waiting for the convoy. One idea to help with that is to take the turret to the Drop Zone (nav won't be there yet and enemies won't appear) and wait at the Drop Zone until you receive the 3 minute warning, then start heading to the Northern Bridge and get yourself in position to snipe the explosives when the Alien Relic APC is approaching them.

3 minute warning is given exactly 13 minutes into the mission, so the APC convoy arrives after about 16 minutes.

I think it's the way that you did the mission, as it ended for me as soon as I got near the base with the general (which would make sense!).

Anyway, though the Chinese #7 vid is impressive, though the hiding-in barracks thing I'm not so sure about as it's something that isn't supposed to happen =/

I'm not supposed to hide in a barracks? I don't think I'm supposed to snipe a turret either!

As soon as somebody makes a video of Chinese Mission 7 all in one run without saving, without hiding in a barracks or other building, and without sniping a turret, then they can tell me I shouldn't hide in buildings.

Good luck making your way through PILOTS, SOLDIERS, SNIPERS, TURRETS, MINES, and avoiding FLANKERS on your way to the bridge. Oh yeah, and good luck when (if) you reach the Drop Zone, all the snipers and soldiers will be right on you!

I do admit the vid's a bit sloppy, as my pilot's hull is usually still green when I enter the turret, but I was in a hurry when making the video.

Mountain Glitch Strikes Again!
It took me about 4 attempts to record BDog #5, and this is from one of my failed attempts.

Nah, don't get me wrong, it's still good and I imagine that there aren't that many people who have completed the damned mission, even with a zillion saves. Sniping a turret (to me) before it's set down is a legitimate action to take as it's supposed to 'be allowed' anyway. Whether it's intentional or not, quite a few of the TRO missions have little shortcuts that can make things easier (e.g. Cloakable tanks sitting around in BD11, Flat section in middle of BD8, Scalable walls in BD14 etc etc)

Never had that mountain glitch happen to me - those bloody chinese with their strange and exotic weapons ;o) Quite funny to see the constructor half way up it and climbing.

BDog #12, #13 (Zzzz) and Chinese #2 (Yay!) added. That may well be it for me and TRO vids - just concentrate on the 'without shooting' regular missions.

I added BDog #7 Terra Incognita and CCA #8 Punishing the Black Dogs.

Romeski showed up at the end of CCA #8 and tried to take credit for my successful destruction of the base. I wouldn't allow it, I was going to destroy him, but the MISSION COMPLETE screen came up before I could. I had him in red hull and black smoke though.

Great job in promoting Battlezone guys! For every noob having trouble with any SP mission, your videos are as precious as gold. Not so long ago only that silly MrSpockBZ had his vidoes up...

I have 2 questions. On which difficulty level were you playing (I presume all cheats were off) and is there any mission that's not uploaded yet, or at least not done and recorded in the satisfying way... maybe I should give it a try then...

I believe that Sporks are all on hard (including TRO missions), both the TRO and 'just commanding' missions of mine are on medium. Hyper's are on easy.

Mission 6 and 8 of Chinese TRO and mission 14 of the BD TRO have not been videoed - not because they are particularly difficult, but because they are quite long. I'm tempted to try and do mission 6 in less than 50 minutes..but if 8 and 14 can be done in less than an hour then I'd be impressed indeed. If you watch how close some of the missions are then you'll realise no cheats are used =)

I'd like to interject on that part, not ALL of mine are on easy. Just those that are hard to film. The others are on Medium.
